How would you describe the culture of your company, and how do you maintain it?
Our culture is all about empowering women. We start by offering flexible part-time and full-time work options. Each client has a full team dedicated to their accounting needs. This team approach allows women to have flexible hours and take time off while supporting their families. Our clients benefit from a reliable brain trust that is always available to meet their needs while we foster support for employees through weekly calls, monthly training and annual retreats.
What has been a significant challenge you’ve faced? How did you overcome it?
Six years ago, I suffered a traumatic brain injury that challenged my ability to be a mother, run my business and contribute to society in the ways I had always envisioned. After years of debilitating suffering and many setbacks, my determination to keep fighting paid off as I returned to my full role as CEO. I am where I am today because of the help of many doctors, family, friends and the BookSmarts staff. I am resolved to pay it forward by helping others through employment, education and mentorship for many years to come.
