The Annual Utah Valley Parade of Homes Wraps Up Another Successful Year

Orem–The annual Utah Valley Parade of Homes recently wrapped up its most successful season during the 41 years the event has been held. The parade, which ran from June 7 to June 23, was hosted by the Utah Valley Home Builders Association (UVHBA). In total, more than 28,000 people attended the event, an increase of nearly 3,000 from last year’s parade.

“We look forward to being a part of the Utah Valley Parade of Homes every year,” said Casey Cloward with Raykon Construction. “We understand and appreciate the commitment of UVHBA, the trade contractors and the home builders. The opportunity to showcase our beautiful homes to the public during the parade is always a fun experience.”

Approximately 8,000 visits to the 33 homes took place on the parade’s opening weekend. The highest attended home featured in the parade had more than 19,000 visitors over the course of the event. Many who attended this year’s parade traveled from surrounding states and other parts of the country, including Arizona, Montana, Texas, California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado and even as far as Missouri. There were also individuals from Canada who attended. Several builders noted in their post-parade interviews that there were more people who had traveled to the parade from out of state than they had ever seen before.

“The Parade of Homes is an incredible experience,” said BJ Chandler with Millhaven Homes. “We had nearly 16,000 come through our home and they came from all over the world. I was actually shocked at how many people travel from far distances just to see what we are building.”

In addition to record attendance, the Utah Valley Parade of Homes also had great success on its various social media channels. Leading up to and throughout the course of the parade, several ticket giveaways were held, generating a significant amount of engagement (likes and comments) and impressions (how many people saw posts). The Utah Valley Parade of Homes Instagram page grew from 9,200 followers at the beginning of May to 12,200 followers at the end of June, with nearly 700,000 impressions and 22,000 engagements during that time.

Homes featured in this year’s parade ranged in value from $200,000 to more than $2 million. Each home was placed in a unique Utah Valley location from Payson to Alpine. All the homes were fully decorated and landscaped, having been completed by 31 builder companies throughout the state of Utah.

Seven homes were named as this year’s Judge’s Choice Winners in different tiers. Tiers for the Judge’s Choice Winners are determined by home price, excluding the lot and landscaping costs. The winners for each tier were as follows:

  • Tier 1: Green Tech Construction “Ivie”
  • Tier 2: Sweetwater Homes “Sage Vista”
  • Tier 3: Millhaven Select “The Jordanelle”
  • Tier 4: Ezra Lee Design + Build “Modern Farmhouse”
  • Tier 5: Chatwin Homes “Wolf Point”
  • Tier 6: Raykon Construction “Meraki”
  • Tier 7: Jerry Stubbs Construction “Scenic Overlook”

The People’s Choice Awards—which concluded its voting on June 30—highlights the best kitchen, best master suite, best interior design, best floor plan, best landscaping and favorite home. Those who attended the parade were able to participate in the voting after attending at least eight featured homes. Each category will have a platinum, gold and silver winner. Information regarding these winners will be made available at UVHBA’s Monthly Membership Meeting on August 9, 2018.

“Everyone who was involved in the production of this year’s parade did a magnificent job,” said Steve Caldwell, executive director of UVHBA. “We owe a lot to the builders, subcontractors and exhibitors who each played a vital role in the ongoing success of this event. The opportunity we had to work alongside these talented individuals was a real privilege.”
