Provo—Mountain West Commercial Real Estate (MW) is pleased to announce that Target will be opening a small-format store in Provo later this year. The 26,100 SF space will be the retailer’s first small-format store in Utah. It will be located near Brigham Young University (BYU) at 1290 N State Street in the Riverside Plaza shopping center.
MW Retail Specialists Garrett Blomquist and Ben Brown represented the landlord in this transaction.
Target has been opening more small-format stores recently to serve customers in areas where a traditional-sized store may not fit, such as urban areas and college campuses.
“Our first small-format store in Utah will offer BYU students and area residents a convenient, one-stop shopping experience that offers the best of Target custom-tailored for local guests. We design our campus stores to meet the unique needs of the neighborhood, and we look forward to making shopping easy and inspiring for students and families in the Cougar community,” said Mark Schindele, senior vice president, Properties, Target.
“Our residents have hoped for a Target for very long time, and we are so excited to welcome this store to Provo,” said Michelle Kaufusi, mayor of Provo. “The store will be a retail destination for students and families alike, making it an excellent addition to the Riverside Plaza shopping center and to our community.”
“We are very excited to welcome Target to the City of Provo and to Riverside Plaza,” said Blomquist. “The addition of Target to the shipping center that already has an excellent tenant lineup will create a great destination for students at BYU, as well as the surrounding community to get everything they need with one stop. The addition of this small-format Target store is also a reflection of the strength of this trade area and the growth in the market.”
