Tami Olsen began working for nonprofits such as Weber Human Services and the Private Industry Council while studying at Weber State University. Later in her career, she transitioned to the private sector, where she led HR departments in manufacturing environments. She began serving as director of the Young Automotive Group HR department in 2015 and was swiftly promoted to her current position. For the past six years, Tami has also served as the executive director of the Young Automotive Group’s nonprofit, the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation, which donates over $1 million to initiatives across Utah, Idaho and Montana. She’s served as a vice chairman and chairperson of the Davis Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business executive committee and is a member of the board of directors for the Bountiful Food Pantry and Davis Education Foundation, as well as the Ogden-Weber Chamber Partners in Education committee.

What is an accomplishment you’re very proud of?

In 2022, I worked with Young Automotive Group’s COO, Oliver Young, to co-found the Kids In Need (KIND) Fund. The program helps educators who identify children in need of clothing. Once the educator submits a request, a volunteer is provided with a $150 gift card to shop for the student. The volunteer then delivers the items to the school, where the educator can provide them to the child. This initiative allows thousands of volunteers to make a difference and has helped over 3,700 children across Utah and Idaho. We’ve already seen the KIND Fund have a tremendous impact on our communities, and its possibilities for widespread success are limitless.

What’s the next big goal or project in your professional journey?

The Young Automotive Group is famous for its rapid expansion. Since 2010, we’ve added over 20 new dealerships to the company. We’re looking to add more, so staffing those new dealerships will be an exciting challenge. It will also open the door to new communities we can serve through the foundation. I’d love to expand the reach of the KIND Fund throughout Utah, Idaho and Montana, and I’m working to capture additional resources from the state of Utah as well as various religious organizations and private donors for expansion.
