Staker Parson Materials & Construction is sponsoring a new Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) roadside inspection training course for the motor carrier industry, beginning in June. This course will be available to members of the motor carrier industry for the first time June 11-15 and July 16-20, 2018. The June classes have filled, but there are some classes still available in July. The course is being sponsored in conjunction with the Utah Trucking Association (UTA) who are donating their facility for the training. The facility offers ample room to park large trucks for training inspections.
“Our industry members have been asking for training on the CVSA Roadside Inspection Program for a long time and we’re now finally able to offer that valuable training,” Kerri Wirachowsky, CVSA Director of Roadside Inspection Program said. “This is essentially the same training our inspectors receive, adjusted for industry.”
“Up to this point, most companies learn about compliance by what the enforcement level is where they operate,” Dave Schofield, Staker Parson Materials & Construction, DOT Specialist said. “We don’t understand exactly when items on a truck are in compliance or out of compliance. We have a good general idea, but not the specifics. So this course is to help teach the industry exactly how an inspection is conducted and how to conduct it. Overall the goal is to help the industry do a better job of making sure their drivers and vehicles meet all the regulatory requirements and are safe to operate.”
