Salt Lake City — Stack Homes, a Salt Lake City based modular builder, now introduces Polaris Modular. The new name reflects the company’s evolution from direct-to-consumer home sales to servicing developer’s residential and commercial projects. While the manufacturing division previously known as Stack Modular Development takes on the name Polaris Modular, the Stack Homes product line remains within Polaris Modular’s portfolio of designs.

Stack Homes was founded in 2019 by Sumner Douglas to disrupt the construction industry with a modular, tech-based approach to residential building that significantly reduces project timelines compared to traditional construction, with predictable costs and near zero waste. The company entered the market selling luxury, sustainable single-family homes and accessory dwelling units (ADUs) direct to consumers throughout the western United States.

In 2023, Stack Homes acquired a modular manufacturing company to expand its production capacity to 720 homes per year on their production line. With the additional capacity, Stack Homes was able to attract large-scale developer clients and integrate into their residential and commercial projects for time efficiencies and cost savings. Stack Homes clients now include HSL Properties, one of Arizona’s largest multi-family developers; Swig Drinks, to assist with their national franchise expansion; The Other Side Village, a supportive housing community in Salt Lake City; and numerous modular home companies.

“While we love building dream homes for clients, we realize the benefits of modular construction can be best realized through high-volume, repeatable projects. Our team has always been unified around the vision of making a lasting impact on the construction industry. This transition to partnering with national developers allows us to demonstrate what’s possible with modular construction and help even more people. Our new name better reflects our focus and future,” states founder and CEO, Sumner Douglas.

The team selected the name Polaris Modular to represent the guiding principles they bring to the construction industry and their developer partners. Polaris, also known as the North Star, is the brightest star in the Ursa Minor constellation and readily visible to the naked eye at night. As modular construction has been championed as a priority solution across the U.S. to multiply housing inventories, Polaris Modular looks to provide industry-leading solutions as a strategic guide and partner for developers.
