Snowbird — Snowbird announced its 2022/23 winter season opening day will be Wednesday, November 30, 2022, conditions permitting. For the first time in 50 years, Snowbird guests will enjoy new Tram cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows and new graphics while maintaining the traditional red and blue colors.

“We are excited to have beautiful new Tram cabins for our guests this winter," says Snowbird President and General Manager Dave Fields. “Riding in the new Tram is a stunning experience thanks to more windows that give expansive views of Little Cottonwood Canyon.”

Manufactured by the Swiss manufacturer CWA, the new Snowbird Tram cabins include floor-to-ceiling windows, automated doors, and gates as well as a new drive system. The new Snowbird Tram cabins are blue and red, like the originals installed in 1971.

Snowbird installed five new Wyssen avalanche control towers for a total of nine towers spread out over Mineral Basin and Gad Valley. Snowbird is one of the first resorts in the country to install these specialized avalanche mitigation towers. The towers allow Snowbird to perform remote avalanche mitigation work, allowing for quicker and safer opening of terrain.

Snowbird’s Play Forever Wednesdays initiative teams up with guests each Wednesday starting in December to support local non-profits in a unique give-back program. For each lift ticket sold, Snowbird donates $5. Last winter, the initiative generated $43,000 for 17 local non-profits.
