PwC selects Ryan Dent as new Office Managing Partner of PwC Salt Lake City

PwC announced Ryan Dent as the new Office Managing Partner (OMP) of PwC Salt Lake City.

Today PwC announced Ryan Dent as the new Office Managing Partner (OMP) of PwC Salt Lake City. Ryan takes over the position from Stan VanderToolen, who plans to retire next year after his remarkable tenure and nine years in the role.

Ryan brings an impressive record and extensive experience as the new ambassador of the US firm’s Salt Lake City office. With 24 years at PwC, he has excelled in leading audits and consulting engagements for both public and privately owned companies. His specialty lies in providing services primarily to financial companies, including banking, capital markets, asset & wealth management, and fin-tech clients. Ryan’s deep client service focus, and emphasis on trust and personal accountability have earned him a reputation as a trusted advisor among his clients and teams.

When looking toward the future of the PwC Salt Lake City office, Ryan highlights maintaining a strong presence in the Salt Lake City area, heavily focusing on community outreach. In FY23, partners and employees in the Salt Lake City office volunteered over 2,000 hours and made significant contributions of over $196k to assist causes and organizations that hold importance to the local community. These efforts include fee-waived and pro bono work, as well as nonprofit board service, building upon the firm’s tradition of making a positive impact beyond business operations.

The firm also looks to create greater access to the accounting profession, helping create new, alternative avenues for entry, while also helping to close the opportunity gap through programs and benefits such as the While You Work – CPA Acceleration program[a]. The program is designed to provide a path for eligible individuals to obtain additional credit hours to help meet the 150-credit hour CPA licensure requirement and earn a Master’s degree from Northeastern University while working at PwC. Now in year three, PwC is working to offer new experiential opportunities across the firm.

Commenting on his appointment, Ryan said, “I couldn’t be happier to take on the role of Office Managing Partner for PwC Salt Lake City. I’ve been a part of the Salt Lake City office for most of my career and am excited to continue building upon the strong foundation that we have established in the area under Stan’s leadership. As we continue to explore the future of work, it’s important that we not only look at how business is evolving to effectively service our clients, but also at how we work and support the flexibility of our people and new professionals in the workforce.”

Stan VanderToolen reflected on his time in the role and said, “Serving as the Office Managing Partner has been an incredible journey. I have had the privilege of working with talented teams in our office and seeing what makes PwC Salt Lake City such a wonderful place to work. I’m confident that Ryan will continue to lead the Salt Lake City office to new heights and I’m glad I’ll be around to see our next chapter.”

Ryan has also been an active member of the Salt Lake City community throughout his life. He has contributed his time and leadership to various church assignments and community boards, including the Utah Food Bank, Boy Scouts of America, Utah State University Alumni, Utah State University (USU) Huntsman School of Business, and the Mountain West Capital Network.

As the PwC Salt Lake City office welcomes [b][c]Ryan as the Office Managing Partner, the firm remains committed to the Salt Lake City business community. PwC recognizes the importance of talent retention and is dedicated to fostering a work environment that encourages collaboration, innovation and personal growth.
