SALT LAKE CITY — Hill’s Kitchen, the café and catering gem known for its warm hospitality, freshly baked pastries and innovative cuisine, coffees and beverages, is making its debut in Sugar House on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, marking the Park City concept’s first expansion. Replicating its original popular pairing in Park City, Hill’s Kitchen is adjacent to recently opened sister restaurant Hearth and Hill in the heart of Sugar House, within the new Residences at Sugar Alley on Highland Dr. Together with acclaimed fine-dining Urban Hill, the two new restaurants mean Salt Lake City is now the home of all three concepts of Hill Top Hospitality, the award-winning group owned by longtime local restaurateur Brooks Kirchheimer and his parents.

“Hill’s Kitchen is all about bringing people together, whether for a quick beverage or full meal. Opening in Sugar House, a neighborhood with limitless energy and engagement, is the perfect fit for our locally focused cafe and catering concept,” said Brooks Kirchheimer, Co- Owner of Hill Top Hospitality. “We are so grateful for the immediate community support of Hearth and Hill, and we can’t wait to provide guests more dining and gathering choices with Hill’s Kitchen.”
Blending rich history and modern energy, the Sugar House neighborhood is known for its eclectic charm, walkability and strong sense of community, making it the ideal setting for Hill’s Kitchen’s barista bar, convenient pre-packaged options and modern-American menu offerings.
Building on the success of its Park City forerunner, Hill’s Kitchen includes numerous new features, starting at the top: This is Hill Top Hospitality’s first property with an all-women leadership team. Vanessa Suminson, Chef de Cuisine, was recruited from Big Sky, Montana, while Pastry Chef de Cuisine Sarah Whistler and General Manager Lucy Clark earned promotions from within the restaurant group. The trio is eager to bring their talents and passion to Sugar House, for everyone from single diners to offices or other groups desiring delicious, easy and affordable catering.
Other firsts include a large oven for pizzas and breads, soft-serve ice cream, and a wide choice of wines, beers and cocktails, augmenting Hill’s Kitchen’s tasty custom coffees and non-alcoholic beverages.
Open daily from breakfast through dinner, the café offers relaxed seating indoors and al fresco on a spacious covered patio that features a fireplace and large-screen TV. Interior highlights include Hill Top Hospitality’s hallmark open kitchen and high ceilings, creating a warm and inviting ambiance within the contemporary design. House made pastries and grab-and-go snacks fill the display cases, adding to the intimate café atmosphere.
Committed to “Inspiring our associates, thrilling our guests and enriching our community,” the Hill Top Hospitality team encourages culinary creativity and community relationships that lead to unmatched hospitality where guests feel like family. “Inspiring associates” is foremost, because its people are like family, covered by health insurance, a retirement plan, work/life balance and other industry-leading employee benefits.
Curated menus blend casual-elevated dining experiences with on-the-go neighborhood favorites and fresh originals. Classic Hill’s Kitchen breakfast items include a daily selection of house made pastries, as well as Brioche French Toast, a Breakfast Sandwich on a house made biscuit, and Chilaquiles. Guests can also enjoy seasonal soups and salads, or sandwiches such as Pastrami, Paneer Roti Wrap or Bison Patty Melt. Scratch-made pizzas can be customized or guests can choose from popular favorites such as BBQ Chicken, Margarita and The Classic Pep. Hill’s Kitchen’s dinner menu includes comfort food choices Rigatoni Ratatouille, Prosciutto wrapped Salmon and “Moms” Bison Meatloaf.
The new Hill’s Kitchen space will be open daily from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. with breakfast available 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.; lunch from 11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and dinner service from 3:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. To view full menus, click here.
