MURRAY, Utah — UTOPIA Fiber today announced its 2024 figures, reporting sustained subscriber growth, rapid network deployment, and industry-leading customer satisfaction. As the nation’s largest and most successful Open Access fiber network, UTOPIA Fiber expanded its reach in 2024, deploying 1.9 million feet of fiber-optic cable, 1.3 million feet of underground conduit, 68,190 feet of aerial strand, and 8,660 handholes, providing access to fast, reliable internet for even more Utahns.

“Residents are the driving force behind these fiber projects because they need better internet now, not years down the road,” said Roger Timmerman, executive director of UTOPIA Fiber. “This past year’s milestones highlight both the overwhelming demand for fiber and the trust our customers place in us. We’re not just building networks—we’re empowering communities to take control of their economic and digital future by delivering reliable, affordable connectivity that will last for generations.”

In 2024, UTOPIA Fiber made fiber access available to 23,684 new homes and 1,974 businesses, completed its West Haven City buildout, and is set to complete Bountiful Fiber’s network by July 2025. At the same time, demand surged, with 11,256 sales in 2024, bringing the subscriber total to over 70,000—half of whom joined the network within the past three to four years. UTOPIA Fiber also completed fiber installations in 22 homeowner associations (HOAs) and released seven new footprints.

With 20% year-over-year growth and a subscriber base that has more than doubled since 2020, UTOPIA Fiber remains a leader in customer satisfaction in the broadband industry. The network maintains an outstanding 4.6-star Google rating with over 3,000 reviews and boasts an industry-leading Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 61—a sharp contrast to national incumbents, many of which struggle to reach double digits.

“UTOPIA Fiber isn’t just growing—we’re growing smart,” said Timmerman. “While many broadband networks struggle to maintain service quality at scale, our Net Promoter Score of 61 proves that our customers aren’t just satisfied—they’re enthusiastic supporters. We’ve built a successful network that prioritizes both reliability and exceptional, local customer service.”

UTOPIA Fiber’s speed offerings continue to evolve with customer needs. Among new subscribers in 2024, the 1 Gig option remained the most popular, selected by 88%. The 2.5 Gig option, introduced in 2024, quickly gained traction among residential customers, accounting for 10% of new subscribers. The 10 Gig service continued to be a niche choice making up 2% of new subscribers in 2024. Although businesses make up the majority of the network’s 10 Gig customer base, interestingly, three-quarters of 10 Gig subscribers in 2024 were residential customers. As demand for higher bandwidth increases, UTOPIA Fiber’s Open Access model provides flexible, future-proof internet with multiple ISP choices, fostering competition and keeping prices affordable.
