Salt Lake City — On Friday, February 7, 2025 at 7:30 pm, the heart of rock and roll will beat at the Eccles Theater in downtown Salt Lake City as the Sound Support Foundation and Adam Reader, the Professor of Rock, induct legendary musician Huey Lewis into the People’s Music Hall of Fame.
Lewis began his music career in 1971 with a Bay Area band called Clover. He started the band Huey Lewis and the News in 1978 and in 1982 produced their first Top 40 hit with the gold album Picture This. It rose to #13 on the albums chart and the song “Do You Believe In Love” reached #7. Over the course of his career, Lewis has had three #1 hits, 12 top 10 songs and 21 songs in total that appeared on the Billboard 100.
The People’s Music Hall of Fame is a joint effort of the Sound Support Foundation and the Professor of Rock and honors the voices, songs, and stories that have shaped generations of listeners, providing a platform to recognize the cultural and artistic importance of music across genres. The induction ceremony will feature electrifying performances of Huey Lewis’s iconic music by Caleb Chapman’s Soundhouse — a collective of over 200 award-winning young musicians — joined by special celebrity guests including Tyler Glenn, vocalist of Neon Trees and others to be announced at a later date.
Proceeds from the event will go to fund scholarships for students through the Sound Support Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of youth and future generations through the power of music performance training, fostering personal “The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will celebrate the incredible career and enduring legacy of Huey Lewis, with the honoree himself in attendance,” said Caleb Chapman, founder of the Sound Support Foundation. “This extraordinary evening promises a unique blend of star power and fresh talent, creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience for attendees. The event is produced by Caleb Chapman, GRAMMY-nominated bandleader, producer, educator, and CEO of Caleb Chapman’s Soundhouse, and Reader, widely known as the Professor of Rock and the nation’s leading expert on popular music history.
