Sandy, UT — Jerik Erskine is the co-founder and CEO of Alpine Home Services. He and two friends started the business in 2023.

“All three of us were plumbers,” Erskine said, speaking of those early days, before making the jump from employee to entrepreneur. “I worked for several different companies and I realized it wasn’t a very customer-centric experience. I realized it could be better for everyone.”

Alpine Home Services began providing essential home services like plumbing, heating, cooling and electrical - with a deliberate focus on customers. By reframing this common business directly around the customer, Erskine and his team achieved rapid growth but it hasn’t been easy.

“One challenge was finding the right people. It took us some time at first but we are in a good place now. Another challenge was getting funding,” he said, “Once you figure out the best way to work with what you have, it becomes easier.”

With less than two years in business, Alpine Home Services has already hit an impressive benchmark for any business.

“We passed that million-dollar mark in the first year and I’m grateful for that. But I think, in hindsight, we could have done it faster or more efficiently.”

Now, with revenue continuing to climb, Erskine has his sights on building a home services company unlike any other. He has added a software developer to the team to create unique tools to help Alpine Home Services conduct more accurate and more efficient quotes. It’s efforts like these that demonstrate just how dedicated the company is to the customer experience.

Coming to The Mill has been a positive step for Alpine Home Services as they continue to grow.

“The golden nuggets at The Mill are that you can talk with people and learn what is working in other industries. Maybe it hasn’t been done in my industry but it’s successful somewhere else - so we give it a try. It might work, it might not, but at least take some pictures to post about it.”

After growing out of their little office at The Mill, Erskine and his team have moved out to their own commercial office space. This is a prime example of how a company can use the resources at The Mill to help them along the way and move out on their own.

When asked to give some advice to new and aspiring business owners, Erskine said, “Fail fast and fail forward. Make a decision and go for it!”

Starting and growing a business is often cited as one of the most difficult career paths. Erskine and his team prove that it’s possible and they embody a practical approach that keeps their initial start-up goal, to make a customer-centric experience, a core value of the company.
