Salt Lake City — On September 26-28, 2024 Mel Gibson won’t be in Utah just for the gas, he’ll be here for something far more important, his first-ever fan convention; FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention at the Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.
“Mel expressed an interest in attending fan conventions and as he and his agent looked for the best one, they talked to other celebrities and quickly discovered that FanX is one of the celebrities’ favorites,” said Dan Farr, FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention Founder and Show Producer. “I say this all the time and it’s true, our fans have helped us develop such a good reputation amongst celebrities that they all want to come to Salt Lake to meet and interact with our fans and that’s what attracted Mel to FanX.”
Gibson is best known for his roles as Max Rockatansky in the first three Mad Max movies and Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon series. Over the course of his career, he’s starred in some of the biggest box office successes, including Braveheart, Man Without a Face, The Passion of the Christ, Apocalypto and Hacksaw Ridge.
Gibson is an award-winning producer and director. In addition to acting in Braveheart, he produced and directed the film and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Director, the Academy Award for Best Director and an Academy Award for Best Picture. He also produced and directed The Passion of the Christ and directed Apocalypto. In 1985 he was named People Magazine’s first Sexiest Man Alive.
