Salt Lake City—Labor shortage? Supply chain chaos? Across the nation, there are more job openings than people applying. Meanwhile, millions of formerly incarcerated Americans who have served their time are struggling to find stable employment upon reentry into their communities. This takes a toll on families and our economy. Next week, in Salt Lake City, Right On Crime is hosting The Dollars & Sense of Second Chance Hiring, an Employer Engagement forum on Thursday, August 24 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Little America Hotel, featuring U.S. Rep. Burgess Owens and Utah Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson.
We’ll address best practices that go beyond current efforts to reduce crime and create opportunities for dependable and engaged employees by connecting public agencies and non-profits already making reentry a reality in Utah.
Business owners and hiring managers will learn about resources and incentives of second chance hiring through federal tax credits, free bonding programs, on-the-job training funding opportunities, and other employer resources. Supporting businesses, reducing recidivism, lowering taxpayer costs, and making communities safer are all possible through second-chance hiring.
If you or someone you know would like to attend next week in Salt Lake City, please RSVP here. It’s free to attend and complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. This course also qualifies for 3 SHRM PDC hours. And if you’d like to see Right On Crime host an Employer Engagement Forum in your community, let us know!
