Salt Lake City— Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons) a preeminent Salt Lake City-based law firm is pleased to announce its new Board of Directors and officers for 2021; and with profound gratitude, announces that President and CEO Hal J. Pos will step down from his position on the firm’s board of directors, after 25 years of dedicated service and visionary leadership.
Pos, who has successfully led and grown the firm for the past 25 years, announced his intention to step down from the board at the conclusion of 2020. A seasoned shareholder with a storied career in environmental and mining law, Pos has led the firm through a stellar period of growth as well as guided Parsons safely through the pandemic. During his tenure, the firm has added 58 new attorneys and expanded from one office to six throughout Utah, Idaho, Montana and Nevada. Pos’s progressive vision for Parsons and the future of the legal industry has been a major driver in the firm’s success.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed serving on our firm’s Board of Directors during the past 25 years. I step down knowing that Parsons’ leadership team is well positioned to successfully continue the firm’s growth and to provide our clients with exceptional legal services. Parsons is, and will remain, a dominant provider of legal services in the Intermountain West,” says Pos.
Founded in 1882, Parsons is one of the oldest and largest regional law firms in the Intermountain West. The 2021 Board of Directors was elected by Parsons shareholders and will assume their duties immediately.
Parsons 2021 Board of Directors includes:
Shawn C. Ferrin, chairperson of the board and chief executive officer (CEO)
Richard J. Angell, director and vice president
Brook B. Bond, director, vice president and secretary
Bruce H. White, director, vice president and treasurer
Juliette P. White, director and vice president
Returning board members include Ferrin, who transitions from chairperson of the board and vice president to chairperson of the board and CEO; Angell remains director and vice president, but passes the title of secretary to Bond, the first Idaho shareholder to join the board. Bruce White and Juliette White (no relation) retain their positions from the previous year.
Ferrin says, “A key component of Parsons’ long success has been its dedicated, insightful and creative leadership. I feel very lucky to have been supported and mentored by several of those recent leaders. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, I look forward to working with Parsons’ outstanding management team to ensure Parsons continues to provide exceptional legal services to its clients and remains a foremost legal services provider throughout the Intermountain West.”
This year, shareholder Cory D. Sinclair also assumes a new role at Parsons, transitioning from chief operations officer to president. Sinclair is a member of Parsons’ litigation team and leads the firm’s Antitrust and Competition practice group. He also holds a PhD in Economics. Sinclair says, “It is an honor to take on this new role with the firm. I had the privilege of working closely with our former president Hal Pos, and I will strive to live up to the high standard that he and other former presidents have set. Our firm is well-positioned for continued success, thanks to our outstanding lawyers, dedicated Board of Directors, talented management team and remarkable staff.”
The newest board member Brook B. Bond is also the managing shareholder of Parsons’ Boise office and a member of the litigation practice group. His practice focuses on complex business, insurance, environmental, and commercial litigation. Bond says, “I am honored to be elected by the firm’s shareholders to the Board of Directors and as the firm’s first board member from an Idaho office. In the past few years, the Idaho office has grown significantly – in both numbers of attorneys and staff and breadth and depth of experience. The Boise office well represents the varied and significant practices of Parsons Behle & Latimer as a whole and is an integral part of the firm’s overall success and future. I look forward to working with the other members of the board to continue Parsons’ great tradition of outstanding client representation.”
