GSBS Architects is pleased to announce Zachary Stewart’s promotion to Principal. With nearly two decades at GSBS and a career defined by creativity, collaboration, and mentorship, Stewart brings a dynamic approach to leadership and design.

Growing up surrounded by the world of interior design, Stewart’s journey has been anything but conventional. Initially aspiring to become an architect, he began his career as a self-taught junior designer. His passion for storytelling led him to pursue a degree in film studies at the University of Utah before returning to his roots in design.

“Storytelling plays a critical role in design,” says Stewart. “A space should make you feel something and, by doing so, tell a story about its purpose and the people who inhabit it. That idea keeps me inspired every day.”

Over his 19 years at GSBS, Stewart has worked on transformative interior design projects for commercial and institutional clients. One standout effort is Stewart’s leadership in developing “GSBS Place” — a process and tool for fostering client collaboration and vision alignment.

“Zach’s leadership style reflects his passion for mentorship and innovation,” said GSBS President and CEO Kevin Miller. “He’s dedicated to empowering the next generation of designers, building better collaborative frameworks, and continuing to push the boundaries of what design can achieve.”

“I’m excited to help shape the future of GSBS,” Stewart shares. “What we do for our clients is about much more than design — it’s about creating meaningful connections and spaces that make a difference.”
