Bountiful–In a move that underscores the strength of his intellect and elite international business expertise, the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing, China, bestowed ARIIX CEO and Founder Fred Cooper, Ph.D., an honorary professorship in its master’s degree graduation ceremony on September 19. In conjunction with this honor, Dr. Cooper was also invited to be a consultant to the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC). As one of only 40 American recipients of an honorary professorship at UIBE since its inception, and the only American recipient in 2018, Dr. Cooper is counted among an elite group of international leaders that includes a Nobel Memorial Prize winner, a United Nations official, and the President of BMW China Automotive Trading Ltd. Dr. Cooper received the UIBE honorary professorship and CAITEC consulting appointment based on his business acumen, character and integrity. Dr. Cooper’s background as a professor at the University of Utah and a global entrepreneur with a strong track record supporting business growth in China (and worldwide) are some of the specific reasons for his selection this year, as well as his selection as keynote speaker for the graduation event.
Salt Lake City–Method Studio, Utah’s foremost innovative and collaborative design firm, has promoted two architectural staff: Todd Kelsey, AIA, LEED AP, to Principal; and David Hulsberg, AIA to Senior Associate and BIM Director. Mr.Kelsey holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Utah and has practiced architecture for 14 years. He manages some of the firm’s most complex projects—including the Mid Valley Performing Arts Complex, currently under construction, and Utah Valley University’s Woodbury School of Business, which is in the initial phase of design—and is widely regarded for his astute project management and ability to stay on budget and schedule while leading an outstanding design process. Mr. Hulsberg also earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Utah and has eleven years of experience. His technical acumen and thoughtful architectural work contributes significantly to the firm’s position as a leader in the Utah market. Mr. Hulsberg is currently serving as project architect for the Davis Technical College Allied Health Sciences Building. He will spearhead the firm’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) efforts.
Lehi–SynergySuite, a leading restaurant management software, has hired Gary Ashcraft as the executive vice president of global client success. Ashcraft’s addition to the executive team positions SynergySuite for continued success as adoption grows for its fully integrated back-of-house platform. In this new position, Mr. Ashcraft will lead the professional services, sales engineering and product support teams, with a focus on developing customer productivity and building collaboration with sales and support. He has 25 years of experience building and managing technical teams, and has a talent for working with customers and partners with unique insight into what they need to be successful. Prior to joining SynergySuite, Mr. Ashcraft was senior director of customer success at RizePoint, directed the worldwide sales engineering team at Workfront, and managed technical teams for Domo, Corda Technologies, Digital Harbor and WordPerfect. Ashcraft holds a degree in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University.
Salt Lake City–Colliers International announced today that Jane Ebberts was promoted to the position of Vice President and has expanded her presence at Colliers International | Utah. Ms. Ebberts has thrived as a leader in the real estate industry for the past 20 years. Earning her the title of Vice President as well as adding her Wyoming broker’s license to her growing list of broker’s licenses in Utah and North Carolina. Before moving to Colliers International in 2018, she joined CBC Advisors in early 2017 as a member of an industrial brokerage team following a relocation from North Carolina to Utah in order to be near family. In her short time in Utah, she has completed over $6 million in Utah commercial real estate transactions, adding to her previous $750+ million. Given her outstanding background and experience, Ms. Ebberts has expanded her industrial focus to include all types of commercial real estate investment, tenant/landlord representation, brokerage and development, forming a new partnership with Gwen Knight, Sr. Vice President, Colliers International. Ms. Ebberts diverse background includes being the owner of a large real estate brokerage firm in North Carolina, as well as a custom-cabinet manufacturing company and a large commercial security firm. She previously held an electrical contractor’s license and was a senior executive at an IBM partner firm developing currency exchange software. Through Jane’s entrepreneurial spirit, management expertise, development and business ownership background she has advised her CRE clients through the challenges of investment analysis, land acquisition and planning, project management, marketing and exit strategy.
Salt Lake City–Big-D Construction (www.big-d.com) is pleased to announce that Beckie Austin is the new Marketing Director for the construction firm. In this role, Ms. Austin will oversee corporate marketing efforts for Big-D. Ms. Austin has been with the firm since November 2008 when she first joined as a Marketing Coordinator. In recent years as Sr. Proposal Manager, Ms. Austin was the driving force in helping Big-D win many of their most iconic projects. As Marketing Director for Big-D, she will implement and execute new and innovative marketing campaigns and strategies.
