Salt Lake City— With the new year in full swing, property development powerhouse, Lotus Company, is adding to their ranks in anticipation of a busy year to come. Adam Hughes joined the team as vice president of operations on February 1st. Hughes comes to Lotus most recently from Better City, an economic development consulting firm based in Ogden with engagements throughout the Western United States, where he held the title of CEO. During his time with Better City, Hughes was instrumental in securing public incentives for a wide variety of projects. Hughes was integral in orchestrating the agreement for Lotus’ city-shaping masterplan in Clearfield, Utah, Lotus Landing – breaking ground in Spring of this year. The first in this multi-phase project is a 240-unit, best-in-class workforce housing community, followed closely with additional residential offerings of various types as well as commercial spaces. As each subsequent phase of this marquee asset comes to fruition, the footprint of downtown Clearfield will be forever redefined with an emphasis on community, connection and intentional design.

Poised to break ground on over 1,000 residential units in the first two quarters of this year, Lotus founder & CEO, Bryan Wrigley, is excited to welcome Hughes into the fold and engage his competency in catalytic project development which dovetails perfectly with the cornerstone of the Lotus development philosophy. “Having worked closely with Adam for several years, not only have we developed a great professional rapport, but I am constantly struck by his genuine passion for relationship-building and collaboration in community development. It feels like a natural segue to bring him over to our side of the table,” says Wrigley.

“I thoroughly enjoyed working with Bryan and the Lotus team on a number of projects over the years. In my prior capacity, I observed their infectious enthusiasm for placemaking and their uncompromising approach to best-in-class development. I am excited to now be a part of this dynamic team and join them in their efforts to mindfully create,” says Hughes.

And since there can never be too many irons in the fire, the Hospitality vertical of Lotus Company, known as Lotus Craft, is expanding and sharpening their vision for the Salt Lake market. Having opened the doors on Ogden’s newest craft brewery, Ogden River Brewing (www.ogdenriverbrewing.com), in late October to rave reviews, the team has its sights set on the up-and-coming Midtown District for their next venture. Currently in the permitting phase of development, Fife Brewing Co. will occupy the parcel formerly home to Suicide Lanes Cycles on 700 South, just off of State Street. The brewery will feature a 2,600 square foot rooftop patio with expansive views of the Salt Lake Valley, and a state-of-the-art 20-barrel system operating under the direction of Patrick Bourque, Lotus’ Director of Brewing and former Head Brewer for Unita Brewing – the state largest craft producer.

Lotus is looking forward to the coming year with a diverse and exciting project pipeline, and a growing team in support of lofty ambitions for 2021. “I am thrilled with the team we have coalescing around these extraordinary opportunities up and down the Wasatch Front,” says Wrigley. “With 2020 in the rearview mirror, it is time to look to the future of residential and hospitality development in our State. And the future looks bright.”
