Salt Lake City—KeyBank is expanding its mortgage operations center in the heart of Salt Lake City’s business district to accommodate increasing demand for KeyBank Mortgage residential mortgage products and services. The expansion will double the size of the operation center’s original footprint and will provide office space for an additional 45 employees, which the company plans to hire over the next two years. The center first opened in the summer of 2016.
The KeyBank Salt Lake mortgage operations center is located at Gateway Tower West, where the bank has a 10-year agreement to lease 17,500 square feet on the eighth floor. Key expects to employ a total of 85 people at this location by the end of 2019.
“We quickly got our team up and running after the mortgage center opened last summer, and within six months of opening we had reached capacity” said Malinda Howard, vice president of the KeyBank Salt Lake City Mortgage Center. “The new space and growing team will help us meet the demand for KeyBank Mortgage products and services in the western half of the U.S.”
In February, KeyBank hired Colleen Bara to lead the bank’s growing residential mortgage business. She brings more than 20 years of experience in mortgage banking and sales, and her commitment to growing sales operations is helping drive the increased demand for mortgage fulfillment.
The Salt Lake center is designed to provide timely service for mortgage customers in the Mountain, Pacific and Alaska time zones, and to provide a complete in-house fulfillment center with highly knowledgeable mortgage underwriters, processors and closers. Howard will continue to build a team of local professionals to fill these roles.
