Kelly Spencer has spearheaded award-winning brand campaigns for clients including Mercedes-Benz, Condé Nast, Land Rover, PepsiCo, Nike and Apple. After graduating from BYU-Hawaii with a degree in international business, Kelly’s career took off when she was selected for the highly competitive NBCUniversal Page Program. Kelly then became an associate producer of branded content at Electric Farm Entertainment, where she helped secure brand integration deals, including Acura, Kodak, Microsoft, UPS and Verizon. Kelly ventured into production, where she produced digital, commercial and social campaigns for renowned brands and music videos for artists like Beyoncé, Coldplay, Jennifer Lopez and Nicki Minaj. Kelly was then hired to build out the branded content division as the head of studio for RYOT — a media company known for groundbreaking journalism and pioneering virtual reality news coverage — before landing at MediaMonks, where she led virtual reality storytelling. Now at XTR, an Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning documentary entertainment studio, Kelly works with brands to create authentic, story-driven campaigns.

What advice would you give to young women looking to succeed in your field?

Build strong networks and embrace resilience. You have to have thick skin to succeed in this business, and your network is your lifeline to opportunities. Passionately believe in your ideas, perspectives and creative instincts. Confidence in your unique vision is essential for making a meaningful impact in the entertainment industry.

What’s the next big goal or project in your professional journey?

Continuing to support the local Utah filmmaker community. In January, XTR’s streaming channel, Documentary+, acquired the exceptional film “Ninety-Five Senses,” directed by Utah residents Jared and Jerusha Hess, who are acclaimed for their work on cult classics like “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Nacho Libre.” The film’s recent Oscar nomination has brought well-deserved recognition to the region’s filmmaking talent, and I’m looking forward to more opportunities to help highlight and drive awareness for the talent we have here in Utah.
