What are you most proud of in your career thus far?
1) Mission spreadsheets. 2) Reading my mom’s entire Excel textbook from cover to cover in middle school. 3) Building software for the San Diego Convention Center at the age of 16 that is still actively used. 4) Creating a reliable software platform used in Chick-fil-A restaurants across the United States. 5) Marrying my wife.
Who inspires you?
Many people have been examples in my life. Though James Glenn Dyer’s mom only graduated from the 2nd grade, he and his three brothers worked in coal mines to pay for their college degrees. He later led an expedition to Antarctica. I’m inspired to be named after my great-grandfather.
Cole Hall showed me how to wake up early in the morning for the things that matter most in life, to share abundantly the blessings we’ve been given, and how to help young children discover the activities they love.
As my MATHCOUNTS coach in middle school and my friend’s father, I saw how Chris Beckstead invested time in his family. His stories of closing big deals opened my mind to the world of large financial numbers and broadened my view of the realm of achievable possibilities.
What advice do you have for other young professionals?
Find what you love doing and do it! Nothing else will be as holistically lucrative for you as to be anxiously engaged in something that you really care about. It is the diversity of passions that collectively makes our society bright and vibrant.
