When Jeff Danley steps into a boardroom, he carries with him lessons learned from his earliest role model: his father.
“The thing that most impacted my approach to leadership and service was really seeing my father and his example of service and charity throughout my life,” Jeff says. “He was a dentist and always served on different community boards and did a lot of charity work. … He got us involved in a lot of the work that he did, and that set the agenda for my life.”
Today, Jeff demonstrates exceptional leadership as a board member for several organizations across diverse industries, from assisted living and memory care at Tunbridge Peak to philanthropy in healthcare at IHC and even theater and music at Tuacahn. One hallmark of Jeff’s board service is a willingness to dive into unfamiliar sectors, bringing his expertise — primarily in capital raising — to companies operating outside his immediate experience.
“Most companies need to raise debt and equity capital, often several times throughout their growth,” he says. Beyond funding expertise, Jeff enjoys contributing to strategic vision and talent development, helping organizations find key executives to drive success.
For those just beginning their board service journey, Jeff offers this wisdom: Leave your ego at the door.
“The most rewarding component of board service, in my experience, is interacting with and working with amazing people who are trying to do great things — whether that’s building a company or running a nonprofit organization,” Jeff says. “The best approach, for me, is to approach my job with humility and work with the team to accomplish the goals of the company.”
