Founder, CEO & Chief Churro Officer | San Diablo Artisan Churros
Scott Porter, Chief Churro Officer of San Diablo Churros, has transformed his passion into Utah’s beloved churro brand through innovative leadership and contagious energy. Since founding the company, he’s expanded from event catering to national retail distribution.
Under his leadership, San Diablo has catered more than 8,000 events, earned six Best Pastry awards from Best of State and secured spots on the Utah Business Fast 50 and Utah 100 lists in both 2023 and 2024. Scott’s 2024 breakthrough came with San Diablo Frozen, securing contracts with Target for 64 SuperTarget stores, along with Associated Foods and Harmons — positioning the company to capitalize on the $56 billion frozen desserts market.
How do you define success for yourself and your company?
Success, to me, is measured in the positive impact you’re able to have on people’s lives. Whether it’s enjoying moments of deep-fried happiness when you celebrate special occasions with churros, providing career growth opportunities for our team, or supporting changemakers with our annual charity fiesta Churros4Change, we’re building a lasting tradition of excellence and positive personal and global impact.
What major achievements has your company accomplished under your leadership?
We have been the Best of State pastry winner for six years and have a lifelong sales of $5.9 million. San Diablo has recently been recognized as No. 17 on Inc.’s Regionals 2024: Rocky Mountain list for our 234 percent growth. We’ve been recognized for two consecutive years on the Utah Business Fast 50 and Mountain West Capital Network Utah 100 as one of the fastest-growing businesses in Utah.
