Brandy Grace
CEO | Utah Association of Counties
Brandy Grace has transformed the Utah Association of Counties from a divided organization into a respected advocate for all 29 counties. Her innovative programs, including the Volunteer EMS Insurance program, have improved the association’s finances while providing crucial services.
Under her leadership, the association has increased revenue, expanded staff, enhanced services and built a new training center. Her ability to stand firm in a male-dominated environment has made the organization a national model that others emulate.
What has been a significant challenge you’ve faced? How did you overcome it?
In rural Utah, most of the emergency medical technicians who serve on ambulances are volunteers. With busy lifestyles and other factors, volunteerism is down, making it difficult to staff ambulances. These ambulances not only serve their communities but also the many tourists and visitors who come to enjoy what Utah has to offer. To address this need, we worked with the state legislature and the Utah Governor’s Office to obtain funding to provide health insurance to our volunteer EMTs. It’s a way to give back to those volunteers who provide such a valuable service when others need it most.
How do you define success for yourself and your company?
Success for myself and my company means achieving personal growth and professional excellence while making a positive impact. For me, it’s about finding purpose in my work and staying aligned with my core values. For my company, success involves delivering value to our members, fostering innovation and cultivating a supportive team environment. Ultimately, success is defined by progress, purpose and the ability to inspire and uplift others.
