What is one thing you are most proud of accomplishing in your career thus far?
I’ve worked for myself longer than anyone else, and I still like my boss. Why? I started Comma Copywriters with the desire for more freedom to be there for my family and be me along the way. I’m proud that as we’ve grown over the past nine years, Comma is still truly a life-first company. Part of our life-first culture includes flexible, part-time roles, which gives opportunities to talented professionals who may otherwise be overlooked. (Humans are so much more than how we make money!) My team and I support each other in our life goals, and Comma offers a Bucket List Grant to help our team check items off their bucket lists. More than fast growth or revenue goals, I’m most proud of providing a life-first culture for my team.
What is after 40?
In my own way, I see my future every day. I keep a poster in my home office with my “decades” life plan. One line for each decade, leading to age 100. Small peek: Books to write (40s), mountains to climb (50s), Fun-ma with grandkids (60s; fingers crossed), host retreats for cool old ladies (70s), still hiking mountains (80s), reflecting and service (90s), and a big celebration for my centennial year (100). We never know what the future holds, but why not plan for the ideal and see what happens? I consider every year to be a gift.
