Wendy Elkington Stabler dreamt of building her own business since she was a young girl. After obtaining a technical writing degree from Utah Tech University and a graduate degree in professional communication from Southern Utah University, she taught at the university level for five years. During the pandemic, she became involved with the TestUtah Initiative and expanded Nomi Health’s testing efforts in states throughout the country. Once COVID slowed, she created a consulting organization that leveraged her expertise in communication and change management. Today, Wendy builds and unites the Washington County community through various initiatives and events, including through the launch of the Elkington Speaker Series at Utah Tech University. Wendy generously shares her time and expertise through mentorship and is passionately involved in organizations like Women in Tech St. George, Silicon Slopes St. George and Startup Grind.
What advice would you give to young women looking to succeed in your field?
Embrace change and mistakes because they are often doorways to opportunity. Change is growth, so embrace it. Never stop learning and challenging yourself. Getting a bachelor’s degree later in life may feel intimidating, but it is always the right time to grow and challenge yourself. Learn what is important to you. Say no to things you don’t want to do, and say yes to things you do.
What community projects or charity work are you involved in, and why are they important to you?
I am involved in education and the tech community. Passion projects for me are Women in Tech St. George, which helps bring education and community to women in the area, and the Utah Tech University Elkington Speaker Series, which brings successful entrepreneurs to speak to the students and community.
