President | Barlow Family Companies
Raised amid the restoration endeavors of her late parents on a historic family home in Layton, Jenn Barlow developed a deep-seated appreciation for preserving architectural heritage. Armed with an undergraduate degree in interior design from Utah State University, she honed her skills further by working for a commercial architectural firm and later pursued a master’s degree in interior design with an emphasis on historic preservation from Savannah College of Art and Design. Jenn is proud to have worked alongside her late father and grandfather — who started Barlow Family Companies in 1949 — and continues to work alongside her aunts, uncles, siblings and cousins in the family office. Jenn is the president of Barlow Corporation, Dale Corporation and Service Credit Corporation, as well as the VP of Service Mortgage Corporation. She is a LEED-accredited professional and former member of the International Interior Design Association.
Who are your role models, and how have they influenced you?
I’m fortunate to hail from a lineage of resilient and enterprising individuals. Both of my grandmothers were pioneers in their own right, each pursuing their unique paths, which were not the norm during their time. Similarly, both my grandfathers were entrepreneurs. My late mother instilled in me and my five sisters the values of empathy and hard work. I’ve been able to witness the trailblazing efforts of my aunts and great-aunts, who inspired me from a young age. I am grateful for the heritage that guides me, shaped by those who paved the way before me. Now, working in our family office, I’m honored to contribute to the stories that adorn our family tree.
What community projects or charity work are you involved in, and why are they important to you?
I’ve been fortunate to experience opportunities in my life that have ignited within me a deep desire to give back to my community. My husband and I have embraced the role of licensed foster parents, providing a loving home to children in need and proudly adopting two of them. My introduction to foster care began through volunteer work with The Children’s Center Utah, where I’ve served on the board of directors and executive committee over the last 11 years, as well as the endowment board of trustees. I recently served as the volunteer chair of the renovation committee for the new children’s mental health campus in West Valley City that opened in 2023, allowing them to further support research-based, trauma-informed mental health services for children and families. Additionally, my involvement with organizations like the Davis Tech Foundation, the HJ & BR Barlow Foundation and membership in the Layton Rotary Club further extends my commitment to making a positive impact in Utah communities.
