Hugo Chavez makes surprise return to Venezuela

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Monday said he has returned to his home country after more than two months of medical treatment in Cuba following cancer surgery that kept him away from the public since December. The president broke the news on his Twitter account and said he will continue treatment in Venezuela. "We have arrived back in the Venezuelan fatherland. Thank God! Thank you dear people," he said on his profile. Chavez's cancer illness has threatened to end his 14-year rule of Venezuela, with people speculating that that he was too sick to travel to his home country.
