Utah Business magazine is currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Sustainable Business Awards. Nominations are due Friday, August 30 at 10 p.m.
This program honors the best green business practices and efforts in Utah, recognizing companies, communities and individuals who are making strides in environmental sustainability.
A panel of outside experts and editors of Utah Business magazine will review all nominations and select the finalists and award recipients. Winners will be profiled in a special magazine feature in the November 2013 issue. Winners also will be honored at a celebratory event in November.
The Utah Sustainable Business Awards will encompass the following categories:
Best Overall Business: This award will be selected from the category winners. It will be given to a corporate sustainability project that has made a truly outstanding contribution in terms of innovation and outcomes.
Best Overall Community/Government Initiative to promote and encourage sustainability among stakeholders and constituents.
Sustainable Building: Best design, building construction: Commercial, residential.
Sustainable Business Leadership: Champions who promote and communicate sustainable practices in their business and/or communities.
Social Impact: This award is for businesses that deliver products and services in ways that take full account of their responsibility to the communities they touch.
Action Programs/Initiatives: This award recognizes companies and organizations that engage employees in sustainable thinking and seek to embed sustainable thinking into company culture.
Innovation: recognizes a new business model, technology, product or process that could enable a change within an industry or sector.
Energy: Projects that lead the way in energy management, solutions or initiative going beyond standard practice to radically reduce consumption and stimulate energy independence.
Waste & Recycling: rewards projects, products or initiatives that are at the leading-edge of approaches to waste.
Water: An award for pioneering projects that demonstrate a dedicated approach to water stewardship and holistic management of corporate water risk.
Air Quality: This award is for corporate initiatives that take a holistic approach to measuring, managing and reducing the scope of airborne emissions.
