United Way 2-1-1 Launches New Website

Press Release

August 8, 2012

United Way of Salt Lake and United Way 2-1-1 announced a new website that will offer a comprehensive list of services and resources for Utahns seeking urgent assistance.

United Way 2-1-1 is utilizing a new, online database, ‘Community Point’ that allows users to access and connect to nearly 3,300 resources online. Until recently, some resources were available online, but to access all the health and human resources connected to 2-1-1, individuals had to dial 2-1-1. Now, those with access to the Internet, have that information at their fingertips by visiting www.211ut.org. The new site also provides and expanded list of resources for people with disabilities, as part of the new service offered by United Way 2-1-1.

“We hope this new service makes it easier for people to get the help that they need quickly,” said Amy Bosworth, 2-1-1 information and referral director. “We know that when someone is in crisis, they need information now. While our information specialists are quick with answers for callers, sometimes people don’t have time to make a phone call—it’s often easier to quickly look up information themselves, and our new system makes it simple and easy.”

Utahans can find information at www.211ut.org on everything from emergency food pantries to rental assistance to public health clinics, childcare resources, legal aid, behavioral/substance, and other health and human services. In addition to finding help, the new website also offers opportunities for those that want to give help and volunteer in their community to easily search for volunteers opportunities. All the same information is also still available by dialing 2-1-1.
