The Wayne Brown Institute hosted The Deal Forum at Zions Bank Wednesday March 28th. The Deal Forum is an opportunity for startup and mid-stage companies to receive venture-based mentoring and advice from professionals and investors. This forum had three companies presenting: Arrien Pharmaceuticals, EZ Lift Rescue systems and Event Smart.
During the event the presenting companies have ten minutes to make their case with a slideshow in front of a panel of angel investors. Once the presentation is complete the panel follows with a 20 minute critique.
Hal Widlansky from Olympus Angels said that companies looking for investors need to paint a picture to the problem being solved. Giving context to what the company will do is an important part of the process.
Articulation and confidence are a key part to giving a presentation that will win over investors, according to Adam Laver of Salt Lake Life Science Angels.
Ultimately the Deal Forum is a place for companies to grow and learn through mentoring and crucial advice. The next forum takes place April 26; submissions to present are due April 2.
