Salt Lake Community College Foundation received a $10,000 grant in honor of Northwestern Mutual financial representative Roger McQueen’s volunteer commitment as part of the company’s Community Service Award program.
On Friday, Salt Lake City resident McQueen presented the foundation with a check for $10,000 from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. McQueen has been active with the organization for more than a decade. The grant money will be utilized to fund scholarships for at risk students.
“For over 13 years I have observed the impact Salt Lake Community College has on the 62,000 students it serves annually,” said McQueen. “Knowing this grant will assist in providing scholarships, so that at-risk high school students have a chance to attend a quality community college, is priceless.”
McQueen is one of 26 Northwestern Mutual financial professionals being recognized nationally as exceptional volunteers.
“Helping even one person can strengthen a community. Roger and our other exceptional volunteers have helped hundreds,” said Northwestern Mutual Foundation President John Kordsmeier. “We’re excited to see Salt Lake Community College Foundation and Roger continue their essential work.”
