Salt Lake City — Salt Lake Comic Con (SLCC) has announced that Weta, the New Zealand special effects and prop company best known for its work on the “Lord of the Rings” movies, be attending and exhibiting at the convention, which is scheduled to take place Sept. 5 – 7.
Visitors to the show can expect a Weta booth filled with art, sculpture, books, props and merchandise, created by the same artists who worked on movies like the “Lord of the Rings,” “The Hobbit” trilogy, “The Adventures of Tintin,” “District 9” and others.
Fans will also meet some of the Weta Workshop artists and craftspeople at the booth.
"This is our first U.S. outing beyond San Diego Comic-Con that we go to every year and we are absolutely thrilled to have been invited," said Tim Launder, general manager of Weta Limited. "We have so many friends and fans across the American continent and we are looking forward to meeting more and making new friends in Salt Lake City. We are very grateful for the invitation and we promise to bring as much cool stuff as we can possibly fit in."
"Having Weta at Salt Lake Comic Con is very exciting for us and for our fans," said Dan Farr, Show Producer. "This is huge news and is sure to have Weta fans salivating at the chance to meet their favorite characters. As part of the show, Manu Bennett will be signing autographs at the Weta booth."
