Gemstone Hotels & Resorts, a full-service hotel management company that specializes in owning and operating luxury and upscale urban hotels and resorts, announced the company has assumed management of Maison 140, in Beverly Hills, Calif. The 43-room boutique, urban hotel recently was acquired by the Chadha Family Trust which also owns the nearby Mosaic Hotel. Gemstone will now manage both hotels.
“Maison 140 is an outstanding addition to Gemstone’s growing collection of ‘one-of-a-kind’ hotels in top destination markets with high barriers to new entry,” said Thomas Prins, Gemstone principal. “With the addition of this lifestyle hotel, we now can meet the needs of a different demographic: the younger, Beverly Hills visitor who is looking to sample all that the city has to offer, from a convenient, stylish hotel.”
“The hotel’s recent renovations, coupled with the synergies inherent in having a nearby sister property with a similar esthetic, make this a logical addition to our portfolio,” added Sandip Chadha, managing member of his family’s trust. “Based upon our results at The Mosaic Hotel, I’m confident that Gemstone will be able to expand upon the tremendous success of this very popular hotel and quickly attain the next level of exceptional customer experience and profitability in this very competitive hotel market.”
Maison 140 was built in 1939 as residential apartments owned by silent film star, Lillian Gish. While the exterior maintains its original facade, complete with dormers and a red lacquered door, each guest room is a unique creation coupling classic French design elements, a bold color palette and contemporary comforts and conveniences.
“Maison 140 is the second addition to our portfolio this year,” said Jeff McIntyre, Gemstone principal. “The hotel occupies a unique niche in the Beverly Hills market, catering to young, urban clientele that appreciates a hip and sophisticated style. It’s an outstanding asset on its own, and coupled with The Mosaic, gives us a strong foothold in a city that shares clientele with other markets where we operate, like Boston and New York.”
Located at 140 Lasky Drive, in Beverly Hills, Maison 140 boasts a prime location on a tree-lined street near the world-renowned shopping of Rodeo Drive and with easy access to the attractions of Hollywood and Los Angeles.
Each of the uniquely-decorated, Parisian-inspired rooms is luxuriously appointed with Chinoiserie screens, hand-tufted European carpets and gilded furnishings, along with hypo-allergenic down pillows and comforters, Sferra-designed linens and bathrobes, Neil Georges amenities, complimentary WiFi and flat screen televisions. The hotel serves a French-style, organic, continental breakfast daily, and room service is available. Bar Noir opens nightly from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
