Fanzz sports fan store recently received the Rising Star Retailer of the
Year award at the annual Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show held in Las
Vegas, Nev.
The Rising Star Awards recognize one retailer from each of the 50 states for
its progressive approach to marketing, merchandising, customer service and
innovative practices.
"Fanzz Stores embody the spirit of innovation that makes the business of
sports great," said awards presenter Jack Smith, founder of The Sports
Authority. "Each of our Rising Stars serves as a beacon for those seeking
creative ways to connect with customers and stand out in a crowd."
The combined industries of licensed sports and tailgating account for
roughly $20 billion each year, and should continue to trend upward in 2012.
While most sectors of the retail economy have lagged in recent years,
tailgating and licensed products have harnessed the passion of sports to
carry stores like Fanzz through tough times.
"The key to success in sports retailing is to bring fresh products onto the
selling floor and fresh ideas to loyal customers-that's what keeps them
coming back," said Steve Eliason, general manager of Fanzz Stores.
Each year the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show attracts more than 5,000
attendees and over 500 exhibitors who debut thousands of licensed products
