“It is truly a ‘family’ atmosphere and the employees feel it, work it and live it that way,” says an employee.
The company offers education reimbursement to encourage workers to develop their skill sets. And with its rapid expansion, career growth is always an option as well. “We are a growing company and the president of the company takes pride in seeing his people grow with the company in responsibilities,” notes an employee.
Instructure provides an open-source learning management system.
“Instructure's setup is incredible,” says an enthusiastic employee. “It is an environment that allows employees to just focus on work because the company has done everything else for the employees. Fully stocked break rooms, a relaxed dress code, comfortable working space, weekly employee lunches, fully paid benefits and unlimited PTO [are] just a start of the long list of amazing ways that Instructure takes care of their employees.”
The company recently moved into new offices, which Jeff Weber, vice president of people, describes as a “highly collaborative environment” with no offices. “Everyone sits at the same type of desk, including the CEO. Every employee has a great view and flexible seating with couches, glass rooms, etc.”
“The free-flowing style of the office allows for the day-to-day to be much more enjoyable,” agrees another employee. “We are extremely busy here at Instructure, but due to the open layout and overwhelming sense of camaraderie, there is always such a great positive energy around the office.
Mozy offers a cloud-based backup service.
Mozy was founded as a tech startup in 2005; since that time, the company was acquired by EMC, a global firm with a large footprint, and has grown to nearly 200 employees in its Pleasant Grove location. Even so, the company has maintained its creative, laid-back startup culture.
“Mozy's culture thrives on creativity and innovation. Everyone is encouraged to contribute to our products,” says an employee.
Everything from the colorful office décor to a relaxing game room to plentiful snacks are geared to keeping the creative juices flowing. Mozy hosts monthly summer activities like bowling, laser tag and private movie screenings, which “have proved to be a big success in generating employee interaction, higher morale and time away from the office to relax and have fun,” says Steve Jensen, senior manager of public relations.
Even though employees routinely show up in shorts and flip flops, they are dedicated to Mozy and their own professional growth. “I love how we have a career path for each employee and how we are encouraged to move up in the company wherever we will excel and enjoy our work the most!” says another employee.
AtTask provides project and work management software solutions.
“In a time when benefits are being scaled back by most organizations, AtTask keeps throwing perks at us,” says an AtTask employee. Among the many perks include a $2,000 HSA contribution, cell phone reimbursement, free golf tee times and a pool room.
“I love that AtTask has a quarterly day of service. Most companies that perform service only do so about once per year,” says another employee, who also appreciates the quarterly team activities and frequent company parties. “There are goal incentives for each individual in the company—if the company reaches the goal, everyone is rewarded.”
“The training program at AtTask is the best I have ever been apart of,” says a seasoned sales rep. “The company rewards those that put in the work and are successful with all kinds of incentives and advancement opportunities.”
Austin Miller, executive director of human resources, says, “If 20 years down the road, our employees look back and state that AtTask was one of the best parts of their careers, where they learned the most and were challenged the most...we have succeeded.”
