Salt Lake City – The Salt Lake City office of CBRE has announced that Beijer Electronics signed a new lease at Centrepointe Business Park, a research and development park in Salt Lake City. Andy Blunt, associate with CBRE, represented Beijer in the transaction.
Beijer Electronics is a Sweden-based company that operates worldwide. In 2010 Beijer acquired QSI Corporation, a U.S. company with a Salt Lake presence, in order to expand its North American footprint. Beijer is active within the electronics industry in three principal areas: automation, human machine interface (HMI) products and industrial data communications (IDC). The company signed an 8-year lease for 44,450 square feet of high-tech R&D space.
“This lease represents a major step for Beijer,” said Andy Blunt. “The company has been in Utah for almost thirty years and has determined that this will be their new America’s headquarters. The move signifies a large investment in the Salt Lake area as new jobs will be created as a result of this transaction.”
Beijer considered many locations before deciding on Centrepointe, but determined that this was the ideal location from which to operate. “This new facility will accommodate our plans for growth as well as portray the high-quality image we are known for in the marketplace,” said Barry Hobbs, CEO of Beijer.
Significant factors in the location selection were the Park’s proximity to an international airport and major highways, the resources available at Centrepointe, and the strength of the local economy and workforce.
