The Salt Lake Board of Realtors awarded CRAIG HAWKER the Realtor of the Year Award at its Best of 2012 Awards ceremony. The event honors Salt Lake’s top real estate professionals.

The Hedge Fund Association appointed RONNIE HALE as regional director of its newly established Utah chapter.

Gov. Gary R. Herbert appointed ROLLIN E. COOK executive director of the state’s department of corrections. Cook is a retired chief deputy from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office and a national trainer on administrative best practices for jail administrators.

Members of the law firm Parr Brown Gee & Loveless elected STEPHEN E. W. HALE as president of the firm. Hale succeeds HEIDI E. C. LEITHEAD, who led the firm during the 2012 term.

Destination West, a new destination management company, announced its official business launch and appointment of R. TROY RUSHTON as president.

CLARK WHITWORTH was promoted to CFO for Larry H. Miller Group of Companies and president of Larry H. Miller Management Corporation. Whitworth has been with the Miller organization for more than 25 years.

Dress Code, a custom suit retailer, appointed ADAM ANDERSON as its vice president of marketing. Anderson will launch the company’s new marketing division and will oversee customer acquisition.

The Ark of Little Cottonwood named LAURA BOBERG as its new executive director.  Boberg assumes the responsibilities of her mother, GLORIA BOBERG, who was the nonprofit organization’s founder and executive director, and who will now serve as a trustee of The Ark’s board.

PARKER C. FAWSON was chosen as the new dean of Utah Valley University’s School of Education. He was previously an associate dean at the University of Kentucky’s College of Education.

EcoScraps named RON ROSS chief financial officer and chief operating officer. Also, AMY YODER joined the company’s board of directors.

DAN RAPP joined Vivint Solar as chief technology officer. Rapp will oversee the company’s technology strategy and software development. Vivint also appointed TODD SANTIAGO as chief sales officer.

Aerial photographers STAN MACBEAN and ALLEN MACBEAN were honored at the Professional Aerial Photographers International convention in Louisiana. Allen was named Epson Aerial Photographer of the Year, and Stan was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award.

DARREN COX of Cox Honey was named National Beekeeper of the Year. Cox, who has 5,000 hives in Utah, California and Wyoming, received the award from the American Honey Producers Association earlier this year

South Davis Community Hospital appointed ROBERT BROUGH to its board of directors. Brough is the executive vice president of marketing and communications for Zions First National Bank.

DOUG JOHNSON, a plant physiologist at Utah State University, received the W.R. Chapline Research Award, the highest research honor given by the Society for Range Management.

DW Healthcare Partners, a healthcare-focused private equity firm, hired PHILLIP SMITH as vice president and PHILIP EDMUNDS as an associate at its Park City Office.

Park City Group hired BRUCE CHRISTIANSEN as senior vice president and SAGE HORNER as president of national clients.

Skullcandy, Inc., appointed HOBY DARLING as president and CEO. Darling joins Skullcandy from Nike, where he most recently held the role of general manager of Nike+ Digital Sport.

The Utah State Bar honored CHARLOTTE L. MILLER with the Dorothy Merrill Brothers Award for the Advancement of Women in the Legal Profession and CECILIA M. ROMERO with the Raymond S. Uno Award for the Advancement of Minorities in the Legal Profession.

Celtic Bank named CURTIS ANDERSON senior loan officer for its SBA and commercial lending department for Southern Utah.
