Murray - PHYSICIAN GROUP OF UTAH opened the Hernia Center of Utah, located at 5980 South Fashion Place Boulevard in Murray. The freestanding clinic brings together the newest techniques and materials in hernia repair. This is Physician Group of Utah’s third Hernia Center clinic.
Salt Lake City - ALLIANCE HEALTH NETWORKS acquired MEDIFY, a provider of data-driven treatment information, to offer patients and caregivers a comprehensive social engagement platform. Alliance Health will integrate Medify’s treatment insights across the company’s growing portfolio of social health networks, and Medify will integrate user-generated content from Alliance Health properties into its products.
Salt Lake City - The GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (GOED) recently approved $760,000 in grants that support new technologies that universities and university licensees are seeking to commercialize in Utah. The grants are designed to help build companies, create jobs and drive economic development in the state.
Salt Lake City - The UNIVERSITY OF UTAH S.J. QUINNEY COLLEGE OF LAW received a $4 million gift from the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS toward construction of its new 155,000-square-foot facility. Groundbreaking on the building is expected to begin in 2013, the college’s centennial year.
Salt Lake City - Leaders from more than 100 Utah nonprofits convened to discuss strategies for sustainable growth at the fourth annual Wells Fargo Economic Summit for Nonprofits. Presented by the NONPROFIT ACADEMY FOR EXCELLENCE at the UNIVERSITY OF UTAH, the UTAH NONPROFITS ASSOCIATION and WELLS FARGO, the summit held panels of nonprofit experts who discussed Utah’s current economic climate and how organizations can best adapt.
Draper - An official groundbreaking was held at the future site of the MOUNTAINSTAR LONE PEAK HOSPITAL. The new 113,287-square-foot facility will have 30 beds, four operating suites and a surgical unit. It will be located at 74 E. Kimballs Lane (11800 S. State Street) in Draper.
Salt Lake City - ZAGG INC launched the ZAGGsparq 1220 portable battery in Target stores nationwide. The ZAGGsparq 1220 is an updated version of the company’s popular ZAGGsparq line of portable backup batteries for mobile gadgets.
Salt Lake City - WESTMINSTER COLLEGE created a new Mastering Leadership certificate program (MLC) to help hone the skills of employees who want to advance in their careers. The 10-month MLC program, with limited classroom time, is flexible for working professionals. Westminster is now offering open enrollment to individuals who will receive personalized leadership training that is customized to their own workplaces.
Salt Lake City - CLEARONE launched its MagicBox WebSuite digital signage software platform, which allows users to control their entire signage network from any web browser at any location. The new platform is available as a cloud-hosted SaaS model at www.magicboxinc.com.
Salt Lake City - REAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT expanded its franchise support platform, making it easier for franchisees to learn from industry experts, network with other franchises, access a growing library of marketing tools and connect online with franchise headquarters. The franchise program additions will accommodate the company’s rapid growth throughout the United States and Canada.
Salt Lake City - CH2M HILL won the Global Water Award for Water Company of the Year. The annual Global Water Awards distinguish outstanding achievements within the international water industry. The awards were presented at the Global Water Summit in Rome, which is an event attended by water leaders from around the world.
Salt Lake City - HARMONS grocery stores and customers raised $222,653 for Special Olympics Utah. Harmons conducted a number of fundraising activities in all of its 16 locations in March, including encouraging customer donations at check stands and allowing Special Olympics athletes to sell root beer floats on the weekends.
Salt Lake City - The Gallup Organization chose INTERMOUNTAIN HEALTHCARE as one of 27 companies worldwide, and the only organization in Utah, to earn the Gallup Great Workplace Award for 2012. The Gallup Great Workplace Award is based on overall engagement levels and evidence of a highly engaged workforce’s impact on key business metrics.
West Valley City - PROGREXION opened a new location at the Lake Pointe business area. Progrexion will occupy approximately 20,000 square feet of space and employ about 250 employees at this location.
Salt Lake City - VLCM was recently selected as a Canon Authorized Dealer. VLCM provides print, copy and fax solutions that include support for existing printer fleets, new equipment (leased or purchased), all consumable print supplies including toner cartridges and maintenance kits, as well as responsive onsite repair and expert managed print services.
