Conference Brings Capital and Technology Jobs to Utah
Midway - The 28th Annual Investors Choice Venture Capital Conference was an opportunity for high-growth companies to participate in the angel/venture capital process. ZIONS BANK, VENTURECAPITAL.ORG and the WAYNE BROWN INSTITUTE (WBI) hosted the conference last February.
The Investors Choice conference delivers the quality deal flow that investors are seeking. In the last four years, participating companies have raised $100 million in investor capital and created more than 3,000 jobs.
The presenting companies are mentored on their presentations by WBI’s venture-centric network. “This year, our mentors donated more than 3,500 hours and conducted more than 350 team meetings to help this year’s 25 companies in their quest for capital,” says Brad Bertoch, president of WBI.
All company presentations were critiqued by a panel of investors to provide instant feedback. “If our batting average holds, 60 percent of the companies will obtain funding within 12 months after their presentations,” says Bertoch.
The presenting companies range in product type from an iPad case to a cure for Parkinson’s Disease and fall into four categories: life science, clean tech, IT and other.
